
He said he would announce the good news during the Malaysia Madani open house at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium later tonight.
“We see that the states on the East Coast are relatively a little behind, like Sabah, and therefore the federal government is determined to increase allocations and facilities to such states, especially Kelantan.
“Perhaps tonight I will mention some new things, more than what was announced in the 2023 budget, such as projects that will help develop the state of Kelantan so that it does not fall behind other states,” he said.
He said this in his speech at the launch of construction on the first ECRL station in Tunjong near here today.
Anwar said his government had already allocated RM1 billion to the Kelantan state government from the total of RM1.8 billion that the government has managed to save from its strategy to renegotiate the flood mitigation projects that initially cost RM15 billion.
The prime minister also said many rich people who seldom paid their taxes in the past had started to fulfil their responsibilities and this led to an increase in government tax collection.
“I told them to not negotiate with me (in getting tax exemption), I’m not the tax collector and I have responsibilities,” Anwar said.
On Wednesday, the CEO of the Inland Revenue Board, Nizom Sairi, announced that daily tax collections had recorded a 20% increase this year compared with last year and the tax collector body could exceed its revenue collection target of RM176.1 billion this year.
