In a Sinar Harian report, Yahya said he was confident PH would do better in the state elections with the support of BN voters.
“We are confident of winning more seats, not only in urban but also in rural areas, especially in BN strongholds.”
He claimed a survey found that 50% of Malay voters in Selangor support PH, adding that PH was confident it will be able to retain control of the state.
Earlier today, Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Azmin Ali said the coalition can win 33 seats in Selangor.
At present, PH holds 40 of the 55 seats in the Selangor assembly through PKR (19), DAP (15) and Amanah (six).
The rest of the assembly is made up of representatives from Barisan Nasional (five), PN (five), Pejuang (two), PBM (two) and Warisan (one).
The Batang Kali state seat was declared vacant on Feb 16 after its assemblyman, Harumaini Omar of Pejuang, failed to attend the state assembly sitting for more than six months.
The state polls are expected to be held after July.
