Nga, who is also the local government development minister, said the allocation included funding for a 6km flood mitigation project along Sungai Perak, which is scheduled to begin this year and completed in 2026.
“Once the flood mitigation project is completed, I expect the flood issues in the area can be fully addressed,” he told reporters after a working visit to Pasar Besar Teluk Intan here today.
Nga also said RM600,000 has been allocated to repair roofs and provide special parking lots for persons with disabilities at the Medan Selera glutton square at Jalan Ah Cheong.
He said the funds will also be used to install a new floor and heat shields at the hawkers’ centre at Jalan Maharani, while another RM800,000 will be used to upgrade electrical wiring and install digital signage at Pasar Besar Teluk Intan.
“Upgrading works such as improving landscape features, installing solar lights and improving facilities for the disabled will also be carried out at the Teluk Intan Riverfront recreational park, with an allocation of RM500,000,” he said.
He said all these allocations were aimed at increasing the level of cleanliness, safety and comfort of traders, as well as visitors, to boost the local economy.
