PETALING JAYA: A gas leak from the air-conditioning system has been cited as the cause of a family of four falling unconscious in their car which hit the entrance of the Bentong toll plaza in Pahang today.
In a comment on a Bentong police posting, Syafiq Mok, who said he was the eldest son, said his family had recovered and they were safe.
“I am the eldest son of the family … my family is safe. The reason everyone fainted was due to a leak from the car’s air conditioner,” he said. “My father and our entire family are grateful to all those who helped us.”
Bentong police chief Zaiham Kahar was reported earlier as saying that the car hit the entrance of the toll plaza when the driver fainted. He said a doctor’s examination found that the victims had low levels of blood oxygen.
The family was on their way to Balakong, Selangor, from Tok Bali, Kelantan.
