
The toll exemptions will be from April 19 to 21, and on April 24.
This will cover 33 highways and all vehicle classes, he said.
The public holidays for Aidilfitri are tentatively fixed for April 22 and 23.
However, the International Astronomy Centre based in the United Arab Emirates predicted that the first day of Aidilfitri would fall on April 21.
At a press conference here today, Anwar also announced that the police will be giving a special discount for all traffic summonses for a month, beginning on April 21.
“These summonses can be from offences that took place in 2022 and before. Each summons can be settled at a rate of RM50. However, this special rate does not apply to traffic summonses issued in 2023,” he said.
He also said the police will carry out Ops Lancar on April 18 and 19, focusing on routes that are expected to experience congestion, to help ensure smoother travel for road users during the festive season.
“Meanwhile, Ops Selamat 20 will be carried out from April 20 for seven days to ensure the safety of road users returning (from their hometowns),” he said.
