Cops take action after fireworks stall catches fire

The stall operator will be called up for investigation after a video clip was widely shared showing the stall catching fire.

Police will call up a stall operator for selling fireworks illegally after a video clip was widely shared showing the stall catching fire.

Dang Wangi police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the incident occurred in Jalan Raja Bot, Chow Kit around 10.50pm yesterday.

“The police have identified the suspect involved in the incident, and will have his statement taken,” he said in a statement.

In the 41-second video clip, a man with an extinguisher is seen trying to douse the market stall while fireworks from the stall went off.

Last week, a man shattered his fingers and broke his wrists after a modified ball-type fireworks exploded and yesterday, police arrested a 35-year old lorry driver for setting off fireworks on the Middle Ring Road 2 opposite Petronas Lotus Ampang.
