In a Sinar Harian report, home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the decision was reached during Friday’s Police Force Commission (SPP) meeting.
“As announced previously, the Kuala Lumpur police chief’s post was left vacant after Azmi Abu Kassim was appointed as the new Bukit Aman management department director,” said Saifuddin.
“The SPP decided that Shuhaily should fill the post.”
Saifuddin said the appointment was among several changes to key posts which were decided during the SPP meeting.
He said a few other transfers involving state police chiefs would be announced by the Bukit Aman police secretary soon.
He said other appointments to be announced shortly include the vacant post of Bukit Aman’s narcotics criminal investigation department director.
The post was held by Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, who will take over as Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department (CID) director on April 16.
