PETALING JAYA:
Nazifuddin, son of former prime minister Najib Razak, has won the Langkawi Umno division chief’s post according to unofficial results.

News of his election was mentioned during Umno Online’s live telecast of the party’s elections by moderator Noor Azizan Abdul Majid, and comes just a week after Nazifuddin lost out in the contest for Umno Youth’s vice-chief post.

The man he will replace as Langkawi division chief, Nawawi Ahmad, died in Germany last November.

The Malaysian Gazette has also reported that Nazifuddin won 246 votes, just ahead of the 236 garnered by his competitor, Nor Saidi Nanyan.

It’s the latest win for the Najib clan, after the former prime minister’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa, was elected to Puteri Umno’s executive council last Sunday.
