Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the state government was looking into the total cost of the sports complex.
He said the site that would be involved in the land swap would have to be of the same value as the cost of the complex.
“Selangor state secretary (Haris Kasim) has met the parties involved and (he) is studying the cost (of building the Shah Alam Sports Complex),” he told the Selangor state assembly.
“I think we will announce the site (for the land swap) and the total cost and plan for this project around April or after Hari Raya.”
He was answering a supplementary question by Azmin Ali (Bersatu-Bukit Antarabangsa) on whether any area in Pulau Carey, Kuala Langat, is included in the study by the state government for the land swap to finance the sports complex.
Amirudin said Pulau Carey was not included in the list because the state government wanted to focus on the construction of a third port in Selangor and the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss) in the area.
“We only have about 404.69 hectares of land belonging to Yayasan Selangor (in Pulau Carey) and its value (for the land swap) is insufficient,” said Amirudin.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said the Shah Alam Sports Complex exhibition organised by Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) received thousands of views and suggestions when it was held from Jan 26 to Feb 10.
“Basically, 50% of the area will be developed with sports facilities, 30% will be turned into a park and green area, and the rest will be used for utilities and commercial purposes to be managed by the state government,” he said.
