PUTRAJAYA:
Federal Court judge Nallini Pathmanathan has been appointed to the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) for a two-year term.

Her name was included in an updated list of nine commission members published on the JAC website.

The JAC proposes appointments and promotions of judges to the government.

Her appointment was made by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim pursuant to Section 5(1)(e) of the JAC Act.

Nallini, 63, took Zabidin Diah’s place as an appointed member of the JAC following his appointment as Chief Judge of Malaya on Jan 17.

Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, Court of Appeal President Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Abdul Rahman Sebli and Zabidin presently sit on the JAC as they hold the four top posts in the judiciary.

Last September, then prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob appointed four persons to the JAC for a two-year term.

They were former chief justice Raus Sharif, former Federal Court judge Suriyadi Halim Omar, retired Sarawak attorney-general Abdul Razak Tready, and International Islamic University Malaysia law lecturer Shamrahayu Abdul Aziz.
