Cop arrested after wife found shot dead in house

The policeman was in the bedroom with his wife’s body when police entered the house.

KANGAR:
A policeman was arrested after his wife was found shot dead at their house in Kampung Bendang Baru, Simpang Empat, here, this morning.

Kangar police chief Yusharifuddin Yusop said they received a report from the suspect’s brother-in-law at about 8am saying there had been a shooting incident at the house.

He said police broke into the house and arrested the policeman who was found with his wife’s body in his bedroom.

Yusharifuddin said police seized the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting and were investigating the case under Section 301 of the Penal Code for murder.

“Initial investigations show that the victim, aged 26, was shot in the left eye and died at the scene.

“We are still investigating the motive for the murder,” he added.

The body has been sent to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital for a post-mortem and the policeman, who holds the rank of lance-corporal, has been detained.
