PETALING JAYA:
Selangor became the sixth and latest state to be hit by floods.

Bernama reported that 107 victims were evacuated to two flood evacuation centres (PPS) in Sungai Buloh and Kuala Selangor.

According to the Selangor Civil Defence Force state disaster management committee, the relief centres are at SK Merbau Sempak in Sungai Buloh and the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council Hall (MPKS) in Desa Coalfields.

Meanwhile, the Selangor government has announced that it will send basic necessities to assist flood victims in Johor tomorrow.

Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the “Misi Bantuan Kita Selangor Penyanyang ke Johor” was approved by the state executive council at its meeting earlier today.

“The first mission begins tomorrow, with the sending of basic necessities like food and hygiene kits to the storage depot in Muar, Johor.

“We pray that all Johor folk will be protected and given the facilities to face this test,” he wrote in a post on Facebook today.

Yesterday, the Johor government said it welcomed assistance from the federal government and other states not affected by floods to help it deal with the extraordinary number of flood victims.

Johor menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi said all agencies currently involved are working hard to provide assistance seeing how the deluge has affected all 10 districts.

In Johor, the number of victims continued to rise as 37,322 people were moved to PPS as at 8am today, compared with 34,849 people at 8pm yesterday.
