Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun, who declined to reveal the location of the planned meeting, said its objective was to get the views of all six state chiefs on the possibility of having the elections at one go.
The PKR vice-president was speaking at a press conference following the Negeri Sembilan DAP convention in Seremban.
The Pakatan Harapan-controlled states of Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan and PAS-led Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu must hold their state elections within the next five months, as the respective state legislative assemblies come to the end of their term in May.
According to EC rules, an election must be held within 60 days after the end of the term or the assembly is dissolved.
When asked whether a decision would be reached by next week as to whether all six states will hold the polls simultaneously, Aminuddin simply said “InsyaAllah” (God willing).
Meanwhile, DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said that Aminuddin will discuss seat negotiations in Negeri Sembilan with Barisan Nasional’s (BN) state chapter.
“He (Aminuddin) has a better understanding on this matter. He also has a good relationship with (deputy BN chairman) Mohamad Hasan, who is also the state Umno head,” Loke said.
“My suggestion would be to allow those who won seats at the previous state polls to be allowed to defend them.”
Earlier this month, Aminuddin proposed that the Negeri Sembilan legislative assembly be dissolved on June 1 to pave the way for the state polls.
However, he said the proposed date would need to be discussed and endorsed by the Pakatan Harapan presidential council.
