Gua Musang district police chief Sik Choon Foo said the car driver, travelling from Kuala Krai to Gua Musang, lost control of the wheel and grazed an oncoming multipurpose vehicle (MPV) at Km66 Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai at about 8pm.
The car then collided with another vehicle in which the retired policeman, Adam Mat Hasan, 63, was travelling as a passenger. He died at the scene.
Adam’s wife, Che Romayni Che Ismail, and their daughter, Nurul Qurratul Ain Nazifa, who was driving, suffered injuries, Bernama reported.
Sik said the 42-year-old car driver who crashed into the two vehicles suffered leg injuries.
He tested positive for methamphetamine and ganja. He has been detained under Section 44 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, Sik said.
