PETALING JAYA: A mother has lodged a report that her 15-year-old son’s teacher had tried to coax the boy into converting to Islam. Police said an investigation is under way.
Cheras police chief Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the report was lodged on Tuesday morning and several witnesses have had their statements taken.
He added that the secondary school teacher is in his 40s.
Investigations are being conducted under the Penal Code for causing disharmony on grounds of religion and making statements that lead to public alarm and distress.
The public was advised against speculating about the matter, and the police urged anyone with information to come forward.
