PETALING JAYA:
Pahang Pakatan Harapan (PH) and their Barisan Nasional (BN) counterpart have announced the formation of a consultative council after a “historic meeting” between both parties last night.

In a joint statement, Pahang PH chairman Amirudin Shari and Pahang BN chairman Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the council will serve as a platform for dialogue and policy negotiations to solve the public’s most pressing concerns.

They hoped that doing so will guarantee the stability of the Pahang state government and ensure that it completes its full term.

“This spirit of consultation is expected to set aside political differences and focus on working for the benefit of the people of Pahang,” the duo said in a joint statement.

The two parties also agreed to hold regular meetings to discuss cooperation in line with the unity government at the federal level.

Amirudin and Wan Rosdy, who are the menteri besar of Selangor and Pahang respectively, will serve as the council’s co-chairmen.

Jelai assemblyman Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail was sworn in as Pahang menteri besar for a second term on Nov 28 last year after the regent of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Sultan Abdullah, consented to the formation of a BN and PH state government after the general election (GE15).

No coalition obtained a simple majority of 22 seats to form a state government on its own in Pahang after GE15. There are 42 seats in the Pahang state assembly, and BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) each finished with 17 seats while PH won eight.
