PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said Mohamad, better known as Tok Mat, should have instead used the gathering to reflect on Umno’s dismal performance in the 15th general election (GE15).
Umno only managed to win 26 of the 120 seats it contested last November.
“I thought that the annual general assembly will be used as an avenue for self-reflection after voters rejected his party,” Fadhli said in a Facebook post.
“Instead, it has been used as a venue to attack PAS.
“Take care of your own party, Datuk Seri. Do a post-mortem on why your party was rejected by voters.”
Fadhli, who is Pasir Mas MP, also called out Mohamad for accusing his party and Bersatu of being disloyal to Umno.
He said the two parties had backed Umno in making its vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob the eighth prime minister following Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation.
Yesterday, Mohamad said Umno chose not to cooperate with Perikatan Nasional because of its experience working with the coalition in the previous government.
In a reference to PN lynchpin Bersatu, he said it was “very difficult” to cooperate with a party which was intent on “eliminating Umno forever”.
“This is similar to our experience working with PAS. They have never been loyal or sincere,” Mohamad had said.
