Juwairiya Zulkifli, who is political secretary to Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari, said the PKR president was only paid a token sum of RM1 per year for his services.
“When Anwar was Selangor economic adviser, he only received RM1 per year. He did not get any allowance or benefits besides that RM1 salary,” she said in a statement.
Juwairiya added that Anwar’s RM1 salary had also been recorded in the state assembly’s Hansard.
Anwar was appointed state economic adviser in 2009 when the late Khalid Ibrahim was Selangor menteri besar. This was one year after the then Pakatan Rakyat coalition, which included PAS, took over the state government in the 12th general election (GE12).
The Bukit Melawati assemblyman said that Muhyiddin’s claim that Anwar received RM15 million for the role showed that PN was desperate and lacked material in the election campaign for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat.
“It is very irresponsible for Muhyiddin to spew such defamatory statements,” she said, adding that it went against Islamic principles.
“I believe that the prime minister should take action to stop such defamatory statements from being repeated again.”
Muhyiddin claimed that Anwar was paid RM15 million by the Selangor government during a ceramah while campaigning in Padang Serai last night.
