Repairs completed on Kelana Jaya LRT line, says Rapid Rail

As of 10pm, all trains passing through the Kerinchi LRT station are functioning normally.

Rapid Rail said it believed the disruptions may have been caused by a lightning strike at the Kerinchi LRT station.
PETALING JAYA:
Repair works on the damaged components that caused today’s disruptions on the Kelana Jaya LRT line have been completed, says Rapid Rail.

“As of 10pm, all train operations passing through Kerinchi LRT station are operating automatically and normally in both directions,” Rapid Rail said in a statement.

It added that its engineering team would continue monitoring the system’s stability in the affected areas.

Rapid Rail also apologised once again for the inconvenience caused to its users.

Earlier today, commuters were advised to expect delays in train frequencies at several stations on the Kelana Jaya LRT line following a technical glitch with a train earlier.

In a Facebook post, RapidKL said the frequency of train services at several stations between Kerinchi and Ampang Park would be delayed up to 15 minutes after a train was taken out of service.

Following that, Rapid Rail said it believed the disruptions may have been caused by a lightning strike at the Kerinchi LRT station.

“The disruption (at 5.46pm) was caused by the Platform Intrusion Emergency Stop (PIES), which was suddenly activated after a suspected lightning strike at the Kerinchi LRT station, preventing trains from passing through the area,” said Rapid Rail in an earlier statement.

The Kelana Jaya LRT line was in the headlines earlier this month as well when 16 stations had to be shut down for about a week.

On Nov 11, then transport minister Wee Ka Siong said the problem was rectified after the modem and power supply system for the tracks were replaced.
