Malay rulers leave Istana after 1-hour meeting

The special meeting between the King and the rulers was to discuss the impasse on the formation of the new government.

The sultan of Johor was the first to leave Istana Negara at about noon, followed by the other rulers and regents an hour later.
KUALA LUMPUR:
The eight Malay rulers left Istana Negara this afternoon following their special meeting with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which went on for about an hour.

Vehicles ferrying Johor’s Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, were the first to leave the palace at about noon.

This was followed by the other sultans who left an hour later. The Kelantan ruler did not attend the meeting.

Perlis and Pahang were represented by regents Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, respectively.

The special meeting to discuss the political impasse on the formation of the new federal government began at about 11am.
