The Star reported that the King will seek the other sultans’ opinions on the ongoing stalemate in forming the federal government.

It reported that the meeting will be held at 10.30am tomorrow.

The Conference of Rulers is also scheduled to meet next Monday.

All 30 Barisan Nasional MPs had been expected to meet the King today following yesterday’s audience granted to Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin and Pakatan Harapan chairman Anwar Ibrahim.

At press time, only two BN MPs, coalition chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his deputy, Mohamad Hasan, had met the King. BN secretary-general Zambry Abd Kadir, who is not an MP, was also at Istana Negara.

Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) MPs had also met the King earlier.

Previously, GPS had voiced its intention to form the government with PN, BN and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS). However, the Sarawak coalition said yesterday it would let the King decide what was best for the people.

Muhyiddin also said the King had asked PN and PH to work together in forming a unity government, but PN turned this down. He told a press conference that PN was firm on not working with PH.

Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob said BN’s Supreme Council had decided not to back anyone to form the government and to remain in the opposition.
