7 nabbed for alleged drug trafficking in Ipoh

Three held after cops find 10.1kg of methamphetamine in car, and another four in a raid on a house in Ipoh.

Four of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and had records for criminal and drug-related offences.
IPOH:
Seven people were arrested by the police for alleged drug trafficking in a raid here yesterday.

Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri said the raid was conducted following the arrest of three men, aged between 35 and 45, in a car in front of a house at about 1am.

The police found 10.1kg of methamphetamine worth RM713,300 in the car, before conducting a raid on the house where another three men and a woman were arrested, he told reporters. The four suspects were aged between 26 and 48.

Yusri said four of the seven arrested tested positive for methamphetamine and had records for criminal and drug-related offences.

The arrests were made under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act for trafficking, which provides the death sentence upon conviction.
