PETALING JAYA:
Former Simpang Renggam MP Maszlee Malik was heckled by an angry villager when he went to visit a flood relief centre in Simpang Renggam, Johor, this morning.

Videos of the incident circulating on social media show Maszlee speaking about being barred from entering the Sungai Linau relief centre to meet victims.

“I want to help them. Over the past five years, every time there is a flood, I would come down here.

“But this time, I find it strange that I’ve not been allowed in,” he said, alleging that Umno politicians were allowed to enter.

An elderly man could then be seen shouting at Maszlee and confronting him, asking the former education minister what he had done for the people.

Two police officers stepped in and escorted the elderly man away.

Later, another man could be seen approaching Maszlee and telling him that politicians were not allowed in the area.

He asked Maszlee, who is the Pakatan Harapan candidate for Simpang Renggam, to leave the area.
