PETALING JAYA:
Former Tumpat MP Che Abdullah Mat Nawi has been warned that he will lose his PAS membership if he proceeds to defend his seat on a Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said any PAS member would automatically lose their membership if they contested an election under another party’s banner.

“We have announced our line-up. We cannot stop anyone from leaving the party or contesting.

“So we’ll see what happens, whether he (Che Abdullah) is really named as a BN candidate,” he told FMT.

Earlier today, Kelantan BN chief Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub confirmed Che Abdullah’s candidacy for the seat.

He said the coalition had made way for Che Abdullah in Tumpat as he was considered a “winnable candidate”.

Yesterday, PAS dropped Che Abdullah as a GE15 candidate, replacing him with Mumtaz Md Nawi for the Tumpat seat.

The seat has been a PAS stronghold since 2004. In the 2018 general election, Che Abdullah beat Umno’s Wan Johani Wan Hussin by 17,500 votes.
