PETALING JAYA:
Police have received four reports over an incident involving a mob trying to disrupt a Muda event in Muar last night.

Johor police chief Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the authorities were investigating the case under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

“We have received four police reports, including one lodged by a police officer,” he told FMT.

Last night, a dinner organised by Muda turned ugly when about 30 people started throwing water bottles and firecrackers at the crowd at Dewan Yong Shen in Muar.

Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said the situation was brought under control by the police personnel present.

Muda communications chief K Lebben Siddarth said police reports were lodged by party vice-president Lim Wei Jiet and two other party members.

This is the second such incident in Muar involving an unruly group of youths attacking a Muda event. On Oct 17, a group of Mat Rempit heckled the participants by shouting and revving their motorcycles to disrupt a speech by Syed Saddiq.

In the aftermath of the incident, a few people, including Sabah Muda chief Amos Thien, suffered minor burns to their legs after being hit by firecrackers.

Also attending the function were DAP leaders Hannah Yeoh and Yeo Bee Yin.
