According to Bernama, the menteris besar of both states announced the dissolution following audiences with their respective rulers.
Pahang menteri besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail was granted an audience with the regent, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Sultan Abdullah, and Perlis menteri besar Azlan Man said he had received the consent of the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail.
Meanwhile, Perak menteri besar Saarani Mohamad has been told to meet Sultan Nazrin Shah today, Berita Harian reported.
On Oct 10, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of Parliament to make way for GE15 after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong gave his consent.
Following the dissolution of Parliament, Ismail, who heads a caretaker government, suggested that the state assemblies, except in Sabah, Sarawak, Melaka and Johor, be dissolved to allow state and parliamentary elections to be held concurrently.
Sabah, Sarawak, Melaka and Johor held their state elections recently.
On the same day, Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the BN-led states of Pahang, Perlis and Perak would dissolve their legislative assemblies simultaneously with the dissolution of Parliament.
BN also controls Johor and Melaka.
The Pakatan Harapan-controlled states of Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan have not dissolved their state assemblies yet, while PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has been reported as saying state elections in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah will not be held this year.
Azlan also said today that Perlis’ anti-party hopping enactment will take effect from Nov 1.
In July, the Dewan Rakyat unanimously passed the historic anti-hopping bill through a bloc vote.
While states have their own right to decide whether to adopt federal laws, caretaker law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar had said, in the case of the anti-hopping law, it would be better if they followed suit for the sake of uniformity.
