Loke said there had been no confirmation of Liu’s intentions as reported by the media yesterday and the reports would be regarded as rumours, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Loke said DAP will not be affected if any elected representative resigned or joined other parties. He said all seats won at past general elections were based on the party’s abilities, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Liu is a member of DAP’s central executive committee and a two-term Selangor state assemblyman for Sungai Pelek.
Liu had told FMT that he had “no choice” but to leave the party after being a member for 40 years. He said he would reveal his reasons soon.
He had recently criticised a DAP constitutional amendment that allowed a member to be expelled for not toeing the party line. “God save DAP,” he had written on Sept 26, saying the party was no longer democratic by adopting the amendment.
