
The meeting began at about 3.30pm, according to a brief Facebook post by Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin. After the meeting, deputy president Mohamad Hasan posted at about 8pm, saying the discussions went well and there was consensus among the five leaders on the party’s approach for the days ahead.
The Umno political bureau is expected to meet after the top 5, followed by a meeting of the Supreme Council later this evening.
Earlier, the party’s Terengganu, Pahang, Perak and Selangor chiefs, Ahmad Said, Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Saarani Mohamad and Noh Omar, respectively, were seen entering through the lobby of Menaro Dato Onn, Umno’s headquarters at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTC).
GE15 has to be held by September next year, but some Umno leaders have pressed for it to be called this year following convincing victories for Barisan Nasional at state elections held over the past two years.
