We invited you for muktamar, PAS tells Kedah Umno

Kedah PAS assistant secretary Zulkifli Yahaya said he personally sent an invitation to a Kedah executive councillor.

The explanation from PAS comes after Kedah Umno chief Jamil Khir Baharom denied receiving any invite for the Islamic party’s annual general assembly.
PETALING JAYA:
PAS insists that it invited the Kedah Umno liaison committee to its muktamar (annual general assembly) in Alor Setar.

In a brief statement, Kedah PAS assistant secretary Zulkifli Yahaya said he personally sent an invitation to Kedah executive councillor Suraya Yaakob.

“I asked her to attend, but she didn’t answer me,” he said in a Facebook post.

This comes after Kedah Umno chief Jamil Khir Baharom claimed that neither he nor anyone else in the state had received an invitation for the event.

Jamil was responding to a remark made by PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan that Umno leaders, including president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Supreme Council members and Kedah chapter members were invited for the muktamar but they didn’t show up.

The claim came a day after Umno had seemingly shut the door on any further collaboration with PAS under the Muafakat Nasional alliance which the two parties formed in September 2019.
