Free bus, train rides for OKU cardholders in September

Disabled folk registered with the welfare department can enjoy the services at Rapid KL, Rapid Penang and Rapid Kuantan in conjunction with Merdeka.

KUALA LUMPUR:
People with disabilities can now enjoy free public transportation services under Prasarana for one month starting today.

Transport minister Wee Ka Siong announced the initiative today in conjunction with the 65th Merdeka Day.

“Through this campaign, the government aims to help persons with disabilities, especially those who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Wee at the Pasar Seni MRT station.

According to Prasarana statistics, an average of 23,527 and 26,762 disabled people use its bus and rail services, respectively, every month.

All OKU cardholders registered with the social welfare department are entitled to free rides for 31 days till Sept 30, on Rapid KL, Rapid Penang and Rapid Kuantan services.
