Wan Junaidi said that the report was presented to him today.
“The report will be presented to the Cabinet in the near future to obtain instructions and mandates regarding follow-up action,” he said in a statement.
In his memoir, Thomas had written on the appointment of judges, excessive interference by the executive in the judiciary, and selective prosecution.
Wan Junaidi said the task force had identified 19 key issues in the memoir which required further attention from the government.
He said the report, work on which started last December, was done after 19 consultation sessions with various stakeholders.
It was previously reported that among those consulted were the attorney-general’s chambers; the Judicial Appointments Commission; the chief registrar of the Federal Court; the police; the finance, foreign, and plantation industries and commodities ministries; and certain individuals.
The task force is chaired by former Sarawak attorney-general and state legal adviser Fong Joo Chung.
The other members are former Sabah state secretary Hashim Paijan; former secretary-general of the women, family and community development ministry Junaidah Kamaruddin; former judge Jagjit Singh Bant Singh; lawyers Shaharudin Ali and Balaguru Karuppiah; and government representatives Farah Adura Hamidi and Najib Surip.
