PETALING JAYA:
There was a minor “bang” and a small fire at Pavilion KL yesterday evening after a short circuit at the Bukit Bintang shopping mall.

A spokesman for the Kuala Lumpur fire and rescue department said an emergency response team was informed by the building management of an “explosion involving wiring” at about 6pm.

The fire caused by the short circuit was quickly put out and the situation was under control by the mall’s management.

The spokesman added that no official report on the incident was filed with the department.

Videos of the incident had gone viral on social media, including one which caught the moment the “bang” occurred. Members of an emergency response team then rushed to extinguish the flames as some smoke filled the mall.

The fire was said to have disrupted the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2022, which was being held at the mall.

Dang Wangi district police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya also said no reports had been lodged at the time of writing.
