
Selangor fire and rescue department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received a call about the incident at 3.23am.
“Seven officers and personnel in a fire engine from the Kapar station were dispatched to the scene,” he said in a statement.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene by health ministry personnel.
Meanwhile, Klang Utara police chief S Vijaya Rao said the victim, believed to be a Bangladeshi national, was struck by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in a hit-and-run at about 3am.
“Preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred when a black SUV travelling from Klang towards Kapar was believed to have lost control before hitting a pedestrian on the roadside.
“As a result of the impact, the man was thrown into a drain, while the driver fled the scene. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe abdominal injuries,” he said in a statement.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and urged those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Ahmad Fadzli Abdullah at 017-5843860 or report to the nearest police station to assist in investigations.
