All govt parties must agree to dissolve Parliament, says Tuan Ibrahim

Amid Umno's latest push for early elections, the PAS deputy president says the decision must be by consensus.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man says the government needs to focus on the people’s needs first.
PETALING JAYA:
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man says any decision to dissolve Parliament must be with the consensus of all political parties in the government.

His comment comes as Umno made another push for an early general election, with over 150 Umno division chiefs making this call on the prime minister.

However, Tuan Ibrahim said in a Facebook posting that the government needs to focus on the public’s welfare and the economy, not just the elections.

“This is not about political parties being afraid or unprepared to face a general election. Those who have been pushing the prime minister need to realise the reality facing this government,” said Tuan Ibrahim, who is a minister in the Cabinet.

Earlier today, Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Yunos said 158 division leaders wanted the elections to be held immediately.

He also said this demand will be conveyed to Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob by party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the next Umno Supreme Council meeting.
