Report lodged over scammer posing as law minister Wan Junaidi

The law minister says his name and picture were used to ask members of the public for money through messaging app.

An aide to law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar lodged the police report in Putrajaya to protect his reputation.

Law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has lodged a police report over misuse of his identity to request money through a mobile messaging app.

Wan Junaidi said his private secretary Rudi Affandi lodged the report at the Precinct 7 police station in Putrajaya.

“The report was made to protect my reputation. A complaint was also made to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission,” he said in a Facebook post.

Wan Junaidi said his name and picture had been used to ask members of the public for money through Telegram.

He expressed confidence that the authorities could quickly resolve the case and hoped that no one else would become a victim of cybercrime and fraud.
