
However, the PKR president and Pakatan Harapan chairman said he could not help but find it “funny” that the bill was also supported by those who had previously switched political affiliations.
“I feel relieved because the memorandum of understanding (signed with Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s government) states that there must be efforts to pass an anti-hopping law,” said Anwar in a video on his Facebook page.
“But what is funny for me is that there were 209 MPs (who voted for it) … (including) those who were conspiring with traitors, and those who switched sides.
“It’s funny, but it’s also a relief.”
Describing the passing of the bill as a “win for the people”, Anwar said the public should now be confident that those they elect in GE15 would not switch sides because of threats, money or positions.
