PETALING JAYA:
Police are hunting down perpetrators who vandalised the Crackhouse Comedy Club by splashing paint on the premises.

FMT has learned that the incident at the premises located at Taman Tun Dr Ismail is believed to have taken place at about 4am when at least two perpetrators splashed the paint at the premise signboard and entrance.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim confirmed that police received a report from a member of the public this morning.

The comedy club was at the centre of a controversy after an open mic performer, Siti Nuramira Abdullah, 26, claimed that she had memorised 15 chapters of the Quran and proceeded to unwrap her headscarf and baju kurung to reveal another set of clothes underneath.

The incident allegedly took place last month.

She pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur sessions court after being charged under Section 298A of the Penal Code with causing disharmony, disunity or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill will, or prejudicing the maintenance of harmony or unity on grounds of religion.

The club’s co-founder, Rizal van Geyzel, was also arrested on Thursday after several videos of him circulated on social media. He was released on police bail the next day.
