PETALING JAYA:
A fourth man has died after an early-morning pile-up involving “Mat Rempit” taking part in illegal racing on a coastal highway in Penang.

Three men died at the scene at the Lim Chong Eu expressway, and the fourth in hospital. Police named them as Eizreel Muhamad Roszaidi, Shazwan Hakim Mohd Abdul Sani, Ahmad Haikal Naif Ahmad Nazrul, and Harith Zikri Yusnizar. They were between 17 and 25 years old.

Three other men, aged 19 to 34 years, are undergoing treatment for injuries from the accident, said northeast district police chief Soffian Santong.

Five of the victims are Penangites, while the remaining two are Kedahans.

Soffian said police had conducted patrols on the expressway last night. “We have even planned to arrest those who were racing on the expressway,” he said in a statement.

The accident happened when the victims lost control and started crashing into each other. During the incident, two cars were hit from behind by the victims.
