Bukit Aman secretary Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the man was arrested at the federal police headquarters by the classified criminal investigation unit yesterday.
According to a Sinar Harian report, the man will be remanded for three days to assist in investigations.
Noorsiah said police will also be applying to extend the woman’s remand after her three-day remand order ends on Tuesday.
“An investigation paper will be referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers along with the suggested charges,” she said.
A 54-second video, which went viral on social media, showed the woman introducing herself as a Muslim woman and claiming to have memorised 15 chapters of the Quran.
She then proceeded to discard her tudung and baju kurung, revealing her skimpy clothes underneath.
Following the incident, the club lodged a police report at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station against the woman, adding that she and her partner had been banned from the venue immediately after the performance.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) then suspended the club’s operations, saying the government would not tolerate any activity deemed offensive to religion, race or the country’s sovereignty.
Many have poured scorn on the woman’s stunt, including actor-comedian Harith Iskander, who said she needed help and that her actions were not funny.
He also defended Crackhouse for allowing the woman to perform that night, pointing out that it was an open mic night during which anyone could take to the stage to do stand-up comedy.
