PETALING JAYA:
After Bersatu’s Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz denied giving away G-Shock watches at a Perikatan Nasional (PN) event, Najib Razak has now raised questions over the Tanah Merah MP giving away a Perodua Axia at a separate programme.

According to Najib, the event was purportedly the annual general assembly of parent-teacher associations in Tanah Merah, organised by the district education office and officiated by Ikmal Hisham.

The former prime minister cited a letter purportedly by the headmistress of SK Bukit Gading, which stated that the event held on July 2 involved a lucky draw with the car as the main prize.

The other prizes up for grabs were said to have included five motorcycles, 10 cows, 10 40in televisions, 20 handphones and 200 hampers. Meanwhile, some 100 whole-roasted lambs were also provided.

In his Facebook post, Najib pointed out that Ikmal Hisham, who is also the deputy defence minister, and others were dressed in PN attire at the event.

The Pekan MP questioned if the education ministry footed the bill for these expenses or if PN covered the costs.

Yesterday, Ikmal Hisham denied allegations that G-Shock watches and umbrellas were given to the public to garner support at a recent PN event in Kelantan.

He maintained that the public attended the event voluntarily, and giving the watches or umbrellas as door gifts to the 30,000 attendees would have cost tens of millions of ringgit.
