PETALING JAYA:
Police have advised the public against participating in a protest on the rising cost of goods slated to be held at Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, tomorrow.

Dang Wangi district police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya said he had been informed that the rally would be held after Friday prayers.

However, the organisers had failed to inform the authorities on the protest, he said.

“Although police have received word of the rally, no official notification from any organiser has been submitted to the authorities as required under the Peaceful Assembly Act.

“We would like to advise the public against participating in the rally as action will be taken,” Harian Metro quoted him as saying.

Noor Dellhan said police officers would be stationed in the area to ensure safety and public order.

It was previously reported that Amanah planned to stage a rally in Kuala Lumpur on July 1 to protest against the rising cost of goods and demand the reimplementation of subsidies.

The party’s mobilisation bureau director, Sany Hamzan, reportedly said the rally would be staged at Masjid Jamek if the government failed to solve the problem.
