PETALING JAYA:
The narcotics criminal investigation department (CID) today denied filing a report that several senior officers from CID and the police force are involved in a drug distribution syndicate.

The department’s director, Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, also slammed a Telegram post by whistleblower Edisi Siasat which contained the alleged report.

“The report is fake and is intended to tarnish the credibility of the police force’s senior leadership and the police force itself,” he said in a statement.

“It (the report) gives a picture that corruption is rampant in the police force.

“I strongly deny (claims that) senior officers from the CID and the police are involved in a drug distribution syndicate.”

Ayob Khan said the police would not hesitate to take stern action against officers proven to have links with drug distribution syndicates.

He also reminded the public not to believe and disseminate unverified claims.
