Selangor narcotics CID chief Ahmad Jefferi Abdullah said police moved in when three men, all Malaysians aged 23 to 49, had finished transferring the drugs into a car at 2pm.
The drugs were believed to be from a northern neighbouring country.
“The drugs, weighing 142.1kg and worth RM355,250, had a gold wrapping. They are believed to be of high grade and were destined for distribution in the Klang Valley,” he told a press conference here today.
Jefferi said the three suspects had drug and criminal records and were believed to have begun the activity over the past four months.
“Urine screening showed two of them were positive for drugs,” he said, adding that three vehicles worth RM138,000 were also seized.
He said the suspects, who were unemployed, had been remanded for seven days.
If convicted of the offence, they face the death sentence, or life imprisonment and whipping of not less than 15 strokes.
“We believe there are other members involved in the syndicate,” he said.
