
According to a Berita Harian report, Hamzah said the ministry had just decided on the policy and would start negotiations with new source countries – although he did not specify the countries.
He said discussions would also be held with industry players, the defence ministry, and foreign ministry before finalising the policy.
He stressed that the intake of non-Nepali security guards would be dependent on the source countries.
In November, Hamzah said the government was considering allowing licensed security firms to hire from Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Indonesia in a bid to fill vacancies in the security sector, according to a Bernama report.
Currently, only Nepalis are allowed to be hired as security guards.
