He said the task force would take into consideration the views of all stakeholders to ensure that its report was balanced and fair.
“There is no need for the task force to include representatives of junior doctors or medical officers.
“The task force consists of experts who are not from hospitals to ensure an independent report that is free from preconceptions or prejudice,” he told reporters at the health ministry’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration today.
Khairy rubbished claims that the task force was not inclusive, stating that it would seek feedback from parties such as the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and MMA’s Section Concerning House Officers, Medical Officers, and Specialists (Schomos).
Last week, Khairy announced the establishment of the Healthcare Work Culture Improvement Task Force (HWCITF) to investigate the death of a junior doctor at Penang Hospital and the bullying culture at government hospitals.
The group was also tasked with analysing and evaluating the work culture and human resource management in the healthcare sector in general.
The HWCITF will be chaired by former science, technology and innovation ministry secretary-general Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir, and will include Hamidah Naziadin, Dr Zabidi A M Hussin, Ridza Abdulla, Amer Siddiq Amer Nordin, Dr Chong Su-Lin, Sivaramakrishnan Balasubramanian, Manvir Victor, and a representative from the public service department.
