PETALING JAYA:
A kindergarten teacher in her late 50s has been remanded for six days by the police for allegedly abusing four boys, aged three to five, under her care in Muar, Johor.

Johor criminal investigation department chief Shahurinain Jais said the arrest came after the mother of one of the children received a video showing the actions of the teacher at the kindergarten.

“We suspect the teacher had been abusing the children since November,” he said in a statement.

Doctors are now examining the children at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital, he added.

The case is being investigated for child abuse under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a RM20,000 fine and a maximum 10-year jail sentence, or both, if convicted.
