35% of adults yet to receive booster shots, says Khairy

The health minister says a third dose is the best way to protect the elderly and those with comorbidities from the virus.

From March 1, their digital vaccination certificatess will change status from yellow to white, meaning they are not fully vaccinated.
PETALING JAYA:
Some 35% of adults in Malaysia have not received their Covid-19 booster shots, health minister Khairy Jamaluddin said.

He urged the elderly and those with comorbidities to go for their boosters to protect themselves against severe complications due to the virus.

“The third dose, especially for those above 60 years old and those with comorbidities, is the best way to protect you from severe outcomes of Covid-19 like death. That’s science. Get boosted,” he said in a post on Twitter today.

Last month, Khairy said the government had no plans to roll out the fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccines for now.

“Currently, we do not have any such plans. We want to focus on the boosters,” he said, referring to the third dose.

He was responding to a question at a press conference on whether the health ministry was considering administering second booster doses due to the spread of the Omicron variant.
