Don’t use vaccination scheme for political mileage, says Khairy

The health minister's admonition was made after Perikatan Nasional put up a billboard saying 'Covid-19 vaccination is free for all'.

Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin said political parties should not use the national immunisation programme as political fodder.
ISKANDAR PUTERI:
The government’s free vaccination programme should not be used as campaign material by parties contesting the Johor state elections, health minister Khairy Jamaluddin said today.

He said the immunisation programme (PICK) was a national effort by the federal government, “which is why I feel there is no need for us to use it as campaign material,” he said at a press conference.

He said the political parties in the government could “claim credit” for the vaccination programme and use it for their political gain but it was not necessary to do so.

Khairy said this when asked to comment on a billboard put up by Perikatan Nasional saying “Covid-19 vaccination is free for all” as campaign material for the state election.
