Warisan to decide next week on contesting Johor polls

Party vice-president Junz Wong says an announcement may be made by president Shafie Apdal at the launch of Warisan Johor on Feb 15 or a few days before that.

Warisan vice-president Junz Wong says he is finalising an assessment report for party president Shafie Apdal on the upcoming Johor polls.
PETALING JAYA:
Warisan will finalise its participation in the upcoming Johor elections next week.

Warisan president Shafie Apdal will make the announcement after evaluating reports on the need for the party to contest in the polls, Berita Harian reported.

“The assessment report will be completed by me next Monday and will be evaluated by the president before the final decision is made and announced,” it quoted vice-president Junz Wong as saying after receiving applications from 300 former Tanjung Piai Bersatu members last night.

Wong said Shafie would be in Johor for the official launch of Warisan Johor on Feb 15 and it was possible that the matter would be announced at the event or a few days before that.

He also said Pakatan Harapan (PH) had not approached Warisan to discuss working together in the elections.

“If it is confirmed that Warisan is officially participating in the Johor polls, our party does not want to clash with PH and is only interested in being the alternative choice for Johor voters,” he said.

Warisan Youth chief Azis Jamman had previously been reported as saying the party would work with Muda in the elections.

He said this would be announced by Shafie and Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman soon.
