Dr M discharged from IJN, to recuperate at home

The institute says the former prime minister will receive follow-up treatment as and when required from now on.

Dr Mahathir Mohamad was discharged at 8.40am this morning.
PETALING JAYA:
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad was discharged from the National Heart Institute (IJN) this morning, according to a statement issued by the hospital.

“He will continue recuperating at home,” it said.

IJN added that he will receive follow-up medical treatment as and when required from now on.

Yesterday, a video of Mahathir speaking from his home was shared via the @chedetofficial Twitter account, where he explained that he has “recovered but not fully”.

“Since Tuesday, doctors have allowed me to return home during the day in between physiotherapy sessions and the medical procedures I have to undergo at IJN,” he said.

Mahathir was warded at IJN’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU) on Jan 22 but was moved to a normal ward four days later.
